Peer Review Processing

All papers are fully peer-reviewed. We only publish articles that have been reviewed and approved by highly qualified researchers with expertise in a field appropriate for the article. We used a single-blind peer-reviewing process. Detailed information about the flow for the manuscript submission (author) to the acceptance by the editor is shown in the following figure.

In short, the steps are:

  1. Manuscript Submission (by author) (route 1)
  2. Manuscript Check and Selection (by manager and editors) (route 2). Initial review will be conducted here. Two reviewers are assigned. Editors have a right to directly accept, reject, or review. Prior to further processing steps, a plagiarism check using Turnitin is applied for each manuscript.
  3. Manuscript Reviewing Process (by at least 2 reviewers) (route 3-4)
  4. Notification of Manuscript Acceptance, Revision, or Rejection (by editor to author based on reviewers comments) (route 5)
  5. Paper Revision (by author)
  6. Revision Submission based on Reviewer Suggestion (by author) with the similar flow to point number 1. (route 1)
  7. If the reviewer seems to be satisfied with revision, notification for acceptance (by editor). (route 6)
  8. Galley proof and publishing process  (route 7 and 8)

Steps point number 1 to 5 is considered as 1 round of the peer-reviewing process (see the grey area in the figure). And, our reviewing process at least goes through 2 rounds of reviewing process.

Editorial Decision Categories

Steps 1 to 5 represent 1 round of the peer-review process. At JoPES, all manuscripts undergo at least 2 rounds of peer review prior to a final publishing decision.

After evaluating reviewer feedback, the Handling Editor or Editorial Board issues one of the following decisions:

  1. Accept without any changes (Acceptance): The journal accepts the manuscript in its original submitted form.

  2. Accept with minor revisions (Acceptance): The journal accepts the manuscript, requiring minor editorial or structural corrections from the author.

  3. Accept after major revisions (Conditional Acceptance): The journal agrees to publish the paper provided the authors make substantial improvements requested by reviewers and editors.

  4. Revise and resubmit (Conditional Rejection): The manuscript is not accepted in its current form, but the journal invites the author to resubmit for a second full round of review after making major changes.

  5. Reject the paper (Outright Rejection): The journal will not publish or reconsider the manuscript.

6-Month Editorial & Publication Timeline
